Fall Foliage and Hiking the Loyalsock Trail

It wasn’t quite peak fall foliage when we hiked the Loyalsock Trail in early October, but it sure was close. The beautiful colors of the leaves on this warm fall day made this hike even more enjoyable. Four of us hiked 13 miles of the Loyalsock Trail, starting at the trail's eastern terminus. Read all about our hike and see some of the pictures taken of the leaves in their full autumn colors.

Housekeeping and Enhancements at PAHikes.com

Over the past month there has been a lot of housekeeping being done on the PAHikes.com website. An effort was put forth to fix all broken links, including links to downloadable TOPO files. The interactive trail profile table has also been updated with the latest hikes. There have even been a few enhancements added as well. Interactive Google Maps are now being offered with every new hike posted. These maps will also be rolled out to existing hikes in stages. And finally we have added State Forest hiking maps. Currently listing hikes in Rothrock, Bald Eagle, and Sproul State Forests, these new maps show exact locations of hikes done within the State Forests borders. Stop by and check out the changes and updates at PAHikes.com.

Hiking on the Web - Alpine Club of Williamsport

The Alpine Club of Williamsport was formed in 1953 as a way of maintaining the newly formed Loyalsock Trail (LT). Today the club still maintains the LT through a series of work hikes in the spring, but also has monthly hikes in Northeastern and Northcentral Pennsylvania throughout the entire year. The membership is comprised of people from all age groups, and backgrounds, including retirees, doctors, school teachers, students, and various other occupations. All are welcome to attend outings and club meetings.

This website is also the authority on the Loyalsock Trail. If you're looking to do a hike on the Loyalsock Trail, you should check out this website before hitting the trail. Catching up on the Trail History will help you appreciate the trail and its surroundings, plus the listing of Trail Alerts will keep you up-to-date on changes and the status of the trail.
